We are an elite team of former US Government cyber professionals with decades of experience understanding firmware vulnerabilities.

Today, we leverage that experience by developing platforms to discover sophisticated domestic and foreign cyber threats lurking inside the firmware of connected devices.

Leadership

Derick Naef

CEO

Derick is a serial entrepreneur and a glutton for punishment doing the start-up thing again.

Derick has over 25 years experience helping software companies bring new technologies to market. Derick was co-founder, CTO and COO of Group Logic, an innovator of many Internet-based software products, including real-time conferencing, high speed automated file transfer, and secure mobile content management. After a successful sale to Acronis, Derick was responsible for top line growth and technical strategy as the GM and CTO of the Access Business Unit. Derick has served as an advisor to many technology startups in the Washington DC area. Derick has a BA in Political Science from Duke University.

Peter P. Eacmen III

CTO & Co-Founder

A lifelong hacker, Peter began his career as a Global Network Vulnerability Analyst at the NSA where he focused on identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in embedded devices to protect national security. He co-founded Tactical Network Solutions with Terry, where he led the engineering teams and the development of technology that became ReFirm Lab’s Centrifuge Platform®. Peter co-founded ReFirm Labs in 2017. Peter has a BS in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MS in Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Terry J. Dunlap, Jr.

CSO & Co-Founder

Arrested hacker turned NSA offensive cyber operator, now he runs a religious cult catering to hackers.

Terry began his career as a penetration tester at Deloitte, and joined the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2002. As a Global Network Vulnerability Analyst at NSA, Terry used his hacking skills to electronically track down foreign adversaries and locate nefarious backdoors in embedded devices that could threaten national security. In 2007, Terry founded Tactical Network Solutions (TNS), focusing on the development of offensive cyber capabilities in support of U.S. Special Operations Command and other Intelligence agencies from allied nations. Terry earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics and Law & Public Policy from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master’s degree in Network Security from Capitol College.

Robbie Robbins

VP of Sales & Business Development

Robbie is a seasoned sales leader with 20 years of experience in the cyber security industry. Prior to joining ReFirm Labs in 2018, he led sales for the Western region of threat intelligence platform ThreatConnect. He has led teams at Seculert (acquired by Radware), NextLabs, Dimension Data and Raytheon. Earlier in his career Robbie helped launch PGP Corporation (acquired by Symantec), contributing to growing sales to $35M. Robbie has a BA in Management from Saint Mary’s College.
